Lindy Layton began her recording career in 1990 fronting the band “Beats International” alongside Norman Cook aka “Fatboy Slim”. The single “DUB BE GOOD TO ME” was a worldwide smash hit, reaching number one in at least ten countries, including the UK. There followed a number one album “LET THEM EAT BINGO” and three more Top 10 hits. After two years of touring with Beats International, Lindy pursued a solo career signing a contract with Arista Records. She released her first solo album “PRESSURE” followed by two world tours to promote her solo career.
In 1994 Lindy wrote, produced, and sang on the No. 1 Garage Hit “WE GOT THE LOVE”, while also promoting her solo album on the club scene, Lindy met Frankie Knuckles, from here, her DJ career was launched into the major leagues playing worldwide alongside some of the top DJs of the time gaining residency at the infamous End Nightclub, London’s Turnmills and The Hacienda Club in Manchester to name a few.
While touring Japan to promote her third solo album “NO OTHER STAR”, a country Lindy was famous for her Lovers Rock work, she met a new partner in crime and began her next project “HARDKNOX” which was signed to Skint Records in 1997. Their unique sound bought them huge underground success and tours with major UK dance acts. Playing alongside Fatboy Slim again, The Chemical Brothers and Underworld, while also making waves over to New York to be signed by “JIVE ELECTRO”, releasing their self-titled album “HARDKNOX” and followed a tour of the US that honed the band’s performance. This led onto supporting MOBY on his Play World Tour in 1999.
Still continuing her long career in the business DJing, writing, and performing on collaborations with some of the freshest artists of the scene, also writing and performing often with the mighty “Dub Pistols”. After building a following for her DJing, she continued with residencies a the The End, Big Beat Boutique, Funkt The Dogstar, Babushka, Canvas, The Bed Bar and Point 101, London’s Grand Union and the most thriving Paradise Bar of West London. With live PA’s and DJing at all the key festivals in the UK and Europe. Enjoying main stages at Bestival, Isle of White, Glastonbury, Shindig, One Love, Bexfest, Manchester Pride 2022 and many more.
With Lindy’s diverse style and creative insight, she has been performing at London’s finest events, fashion shows and exhibitions, including venues: Royal Academy of Arts, the V&A Museum, Somerset House, and other historic venues.
Lindy recently provided the magical soundtrack to the Alice in Wonderland exhibition at the V&A in London, while also being the female DJ of choice at the legendary Female Cup Final at Wembley in 2022.
She launched the nightclub experience on the biggest cruise ship Wonders of the Sea in 2022, generating excitement in the corporate industry, adding her to the A Class entertainment on cutting-edge cruises.
The release of “BE GOOD TO ME” in 2019 with Cloonee let to a newfound audience and is hitting over 6 million streams on Spotify to date.
Lindy is still DJing at festivals, prestigious events and weddings in the UK, Ibiza, Greece, Spain, and other countries in Europe. While also working with up-and-coming artists and producers on the Electronic Dance music scene with a London-based record label.
New music is set to be released in 2023. With her diverse limitless creativity, Lindy is fast becoming a unique gem within the events world.
